After Srugery

What to Expect After Cataract Surgery

One of the most common concerns we address with our patients is what to expect after cataract surgery. Many of our patients are pleasantly surprised to learn that recovery after cataract surgery is quicker and less painful than ever before.
After cataract surgery, you will be able to go home, and before long you will be able to resume your normal activities and lifestyle. In some cases, recovery after cataract surgery will include wearing a patch over your eye for protection. This may be recommended for up to a week.

Further instructions for care, including medications you may need to take, will be provided by your surgeon.

Your vision after cataract surgery will continue to improve as your eye heals. That means that you should not expect an instant fix, although many patients do see such immediate and positive outcomes. Ultimately though, vision after cataract surgery may take several days, or even several weeks, to reach maximum improvement.

Expect to come back to the office for several follow-up appointments so that we can check in on your recovery process and vision, and address any questions or concerns.
